Lake District Day Trip – Grasmere

Day Trip to Grasmere from Liverpool

The Lake District is the UK’s Largest and most visited National Park. It is the largest area of land to be named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy incredible scenic views of this beautiful landscape on a day trip to one of the prettiest areas in the Lake District – Grasmere and Rydal.

One of the best ways to see the area is to go on a scenic walk! Join us as we enjoy a gentle walk around Grasmere Lake taking in the forest and river views along the way. After our walk,  we will have some free time for lunch in Grasmere village where you can also visit Wordsworth’s grave and Daffodil Garden as well as the world-famous Gingerbread Shop. Following your visit to Grasmere we will also enjoy some time at Rydal Mount and Gardens where there are more options to also visit Rydal Lake.

‘The loveliest spot man hath ever found’? Come along and see if Wordsworth was right.

Trip Itinerary

We will have a gentle 1.5 hrs walk on arrival around Grasmere Lake followed by free time for lunch in Grasmere Village where there are cafes, shops and traditional pubs. After lunch we will visit the beautiful gardens at Rydal Mount where there are options to also visit Rydal Lake.

Walk difficulty: Easy-Medium and 1.5hrs in length. Some short uphill paths but mostly flat and gentle.

variations on the trip

Sometimes things don’t always go to plan and British weather can be changeable. If for any reason there is extensive flooding on arrival, we may offer more time in Grasmere village instead of the walk and opt to go to Bowness on Windermere as an extra visit on top of Grasmere and Rydal. We do believe in getting outside and enjoying the outdoors so if it’s simply raining, please come prepared as we will get wet (and have a great time doing so!).
